Polished Concrete

Polished Concrete floors are possibly the most practical of floors as you are using the existing surface to produce a floor that is asethectically beautiful and extremely practical.

Polished concrete offers a good alternative to other expensive floor coverings and treatments. They are energy efficient and are low maintenace and dust free. .

Polished exposed aggregate finishes are achieved by grinding the surface of the concrete to remove the cement paste in order to expose the aggregate or stones within the concrete.

The surface is then polished using progresively finer pads. The degree of exposure of the aggregate and the uniformity of the exposure needs to determined to ensure the desired result is achieved.

Polished concrete will not powder up, when a concrete floor is properly mechanically polished, in conjunction with the appropriate densifiers you can achieve a high shine level and increase the hardness of the concrete.

It can be stained or dyed a huge array of colors.
If it is a new slab, different aggregates can be put into the mix, also integral color can be added or even white cement  all of which will give a unique look.

At the time of pouring, different shapes and colors can be intergrated into the floor and then polished to achieve the desired look.
For places with special requirements such as logos or defined walkways, these can be easily incorporated into the floor.

When saw cuts are introduced the floor it can take on a tiled like appearance but you have complete control over the dimensions and shape.

Abrasive Blasting or Engraving can be used to texture the surface and form patterns.

Polished Concrete does not have a Urethane or Epoxy over the surface it is treated with a penetrating sealer to give added resistance to staining. The hardened and polished surface give the concrete its shine and endurance.
